2008 Toyota 4Runner Specification- Engine

The 4Runner is Toyota's truck-based mid-size sport-utility vehicle. This SUV is quite popular, since the time it was launched in 1985. For 2008, the 4Runner that represents the fourth-generation of the production line is largely unchanged, except for some minor changes, like the addition of side and curtain airbags on all models. In both engines, there is variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i) system that helps in providing substantial low-end and mid-range torque.

The standard five-speed automatic transmission in the 2008 Toyota 4Runner helps in adapting the gear-shifting patterns according to driving conditions and driver input. Regardless of engine type, all the twelve Toyota 4Runner Wheel's powertrains are enhanced with a heavy-duty battery, starter, alternator and heater, along with a stainless steel exhaust system. The Toyota 4Runner engines have an impressive fuel efficiency rating of 13.5L/100km in the city and 10.2L/100km on the highway. There is also Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), as standard equipment on all models. It provides extra control for off-road driving experience by helping to keep the vehicle stationary while driving on a steep incline or slippery surface.
